I did a little review for the Luminail Gel Nail Polish Kit that I bought from Priceline for AU$99.
This is a great kit that comes with top & base coat plus 3 colour polishes, and the gimmick behind it is that you cure each layer of the gel polish under an LED UV lamp (provided) for super shiny, rock-hard nail colour that lasts for up to 2 weeks. If the kit seems expensive, to put it in perspective a gel manicure cost me AU$35 at my local salon, and other home kits I’ve seen are AU$130 with only one colour polish but minus the nail files.
My experience of torturing my nails with every day housework and regular alcohol hand rub at work shows that it really does last well, it took about 4 days for the first chips to come and up to a week before any noticeable damage occurs (usually on my index finger & thumb, which I obviously use the most).
One down side is that I wouldn’t recommend this for those with already brittle or soft nails - the process of removal isn’t kind, and if the colour begins to flake & you pull it off, it will take some nail with it. My nails are usually tough, but I did notice the difference after 2 rounds of polish & removal.
So if you like to have long-wearing colour I would recommend this, but if you like changing colour frequently I’d stick with traditional polish.
